Mother of pearl is not a stone. It is nacre — the innermost layer of a mollusc shell, built slowly, layer by layer, over years. The iridescent glow it carries is not a surface effect. It runs through the entire structure.

Across cultures and centuries, mother of pearl has been associated with the moon, intuition, and the cycles of nature. Sailors carried it for protection at sea. In Chinese medicine it was used for centuries to calm the mind and cool inflammation. In the Storm Trio it represents the calm that comes after — the pale, whispery light of the sky once a storm has passed.

Because it is an organic material rather than a mineral, mother of pearl is more delicate than our other stones. Keep it away from perfume, lotion and harsh chemicals, and store separately to prevent scratching.
